Buying Off the Plan in NSW — What Extra Homework Should You Do?
Why off-the-plan needs extra homework
You are often committing before the property is complete, so the contract, timing, inclusions and project documentation matter more than a display suite or brochure.
NSW residential off-the-plan contracts generally have a 10-business-day cooling-off period, longer than the standard private-treaty period.
Questions to organise before signing
• What exactly is included in the contract and finishes schedule?
• What are the estimated completion and settlement timeframes?
• What deposit/payment obligations apply?
• What happens if finance, valuation or settlement conditions change?
• Has your solicitor/conveyancer reviewed the contract and explained any special conditions?
