Bankstown TOD Precinct — What the New Planning Controls Mean
Bankstown is an accelerated TOD precinct
NSW Planning says the Bankstown rezoning is now in effect. The precinct framework creates capacity for additional homes and jobs around transport, along with new public-space and active-transport measures.
Headline capacity is not your property's entitlement
Precinct-wide figures and maps do not tell you what one individual block can achieve. Property-specific zoning, height, floor-space, lot dimensions, heritage, access, services and other controls still need checking.
Development assessment still applies
NSW Planning notes that Development Applications can be lodged and assessed under the new controls. That is different from saying a particular development is automatically permitted or viable.
For owners and buyers
Use the planning changes to decide whether a site deserves deeper investigation, then verify the exact address with the Planning Portal/Spatial Viewer and a qualified planner.
Message BANKSTOWN with the address if you want help organising the property research.
